merry christmas!

merry christmas to whoever is reading this!! it's a season of giving and love :) finally, the happy carollers went for carolling! we went to dempsey hill at CA B&J restaurant to carol! quite a nice place actually, the ambience of the place was pretty cosy and warm! we had our first day of carolling ytd, during lunch time. the stage where we carol was incredibly small. 11 of us, just squeezed onto that stage. hahaha, while we sang there was only this family in front of us that was enthusiastic and singing along with us. the rest were pretty much just staring at us like we are some weirdo. one girl was even covering her ears hmm. so, climbing up dempsey hill was probably one of the worst times for my poor feet. wearing heels (not that high) but it killed my feet. terrible. anyway, while walking to the restaurant we met miss yeo who came to support us!! yay! hahaha how sweet of her! she heard us sing our 1st set, and then surprise surprise, guess who came for our 2nd set? while we were singing halfway through our 2nd set, all of a sudden we saw mr toh sitting down and just watching us. SHOCKER HAHA. most of us were stunned for a few seconds. HE IS SO SWEET OMG. gotta love mr toh man!! so the second day of carolling which is today, we sang during dinner time and we def had a better response from the audience. well, singaporeans just aren't really receptive to anything and they just give you a blank look most of the time as compared to the caucasians. although one of the staff wasn't so friendly to us and gave some negative remarks to iris but other than that, things went great! there was this girl (hayley) that made my day!! she was so small and she came up to us and said she had a song request for us. she wanted us to sing 'Last Christmas'. hahaha so brave of her! she then jumped in excitement after that and she's also very shy haha :) apparently, this song was not in our song list and we just had to impromptu on the spot. we did really well apparently, hahaha we had amri beatboxing and the rest of us tried to harmonise with each other. we managed to pull it off, after like 2 mins of rehearsing. proud of us!! we also had another request from a staff to sing a birthday song to clarice, also a small girl. she was SO happy when we sang her the birthday song, awwww! after our performance, hayley came up to us and said, "thank you for singing the song i requested!" then she turned away cos she was too shy, omg my heart melted haha!! she was super cute man, during our performance she took a menu and opened it, pretended to be like us cos we were holding black files with our song sheets inside and she was swaying to the music with us. oh gosh!! too cute. i actually feel like this can be my career man, singing for a living. heh, can't wait to go carolling next year! next time we will go and book other more atas places to sing. not bad you know, earning about $30 an hour. after our first day, this lady approached dexter and i think she is interested in getting us to sing some songs too. not sure yet though. but excited! last week was so busy! friday was my sister's cell's befriender's party! she requested that i baked cookies for her. i think i mentioned about bracing myself for this. indeed, because the cookies that i baked turned out horrible in the appearance. taste was not bad though. but it was too late to turn back so i just continued with the baking. i did this on thursday and i stopped after baking like 3 batches? lol. then on friday, i couldn't take it cos the cookies were pissing me off really badly and i had to do smth else to rescue myself. at about 1pm, rushed off to the market and got like bananas. came home and made banana cupcake with cream cheese frosting. how dumb of me, my sister asked me to make for 40 people and i only made 34 cupcakes. zz, but in the end i packed for only 30 people. i finished baking the banana cupcakes at like 4pm and i rushed off to baking the rest of my cookies. it was insane, there were so much for me to do and i didn't know that the event was going to start at 6. omg i rushed like some mad woman. did as many batches of cookies as i could and packed the gift packs. it was basically one banana cupcake with 5 cookies. in the end, i finished everything by like 7pm and rushed off to church to give the cupcakes. hahaha. carolling prac on that day was suppose to start at 6pm. i reached my friend's hse at 8 lol! so super rushed. in the end, had a good prac and had good feedback for both the cookies and the banana cupcake! they said that it was damn good and they even compared my cookies to famous amos LOL, so exaggerated lah i feel. but it's a great compliment if it was true. didn't touch my hw at all last week, guilty. and i'm suppose to start on revision!! gotta start multi-tasking!!! okay, wishing everyone a merry christmas, may your christmases be white! happy holidays all. :) Posted by wen xin at 1:54 AM
