Stay uncomfortable
Thursday, February 18, 2016
"You need to be uncomfortable in order to grow." I remember hearing this phrase whilst watching the Biggest Loser few years back. It used to be my favourite show btw HAHA. Isn't it so fascinating to watch obese people lose weight?? Okay anyway, back to topic. I never exactly understood this phrase in the past but this phrase is finally starting to shed some light in my life. All of us know we have a comfort zone that exists in our world, and the radius of our individual comfort zone differs. Once we step out of it slightly, our world shifts a little. It shifts outwards and the boundary of our comfort zone increases in radius. What am I trying to say? When you feel uncomfortable, stay in it a little longer. Don't pull yourself out too quickly but take a shot at whatever you're doing. Being uncomfortable helps you to learn more about yourself, your perceived limits and weaknesses which may not be true. Personally, this past year has been a constant stage of being uncomfortable. I've been pushed out of my comfort zone many times - joining a choir with literally nobody I knew, cell leadership (mentor left), trying out pop singing (it's not for me, I really believe so), attempting art (I mean, I failed art and hated it all my life but I felt it was still a good attempt nevertheless) and in my character, to love when you don't feel like it. These experiences initially brought me much fear and anxiety but honestly I'm glad that I stuck with it and gave it a go. Whether I'm doing a good job with it, I can say to myself that at least I tried. So don't limit yourself and put yourself into a box, you'll never know what you can truly do. It's 7.53am now and I'm on the way to school. Smashing assignments this week, can't wait to end this week already! NOT looking forward to Saturday makeup class. I mean, 8.30am class on a Saturday?! Okay I shall stop complaining, chill chill. 15 days to concert day. This is insane, I'm loving it so much I'm sure I'll have withdrawal symptoms after. So excited to know that friends will be supporting me, feeling so loved 💕 Hello to a 3 hour class, and a good lunch after 🙂
