day 1-2
Monday, May 13, 2019

Been in eastern Europe for 2 days, and today's the third day. Still can't believe I'm here, feels super surreal that this trip has happened. I was totally yolo and decided about 2-3 months ago that we should do this, and here we are.

I'm lying on my bed in cesky krumlov, one of the most beautiful towns in Czech. It is also a really small town, a quiet one with so much charm. But ok, let's backtrack to day 1 and let me pen down some memories.

Our flight path was SIN - DOH - PRG

"ugly bear at doha airport" - mum

It started off a lil dramatic cos apparently the airport went to change the gate without informing us. Thank God that my dad felt something was off and faster checked, and realised they changed the gate from one end to the other end. We made it on time, thankfully!

The first flight was 8 hours plus, and it was a full flight. Rather unbearable flight, I couldn't exactly sleep. I had a longggg day of work, I was really tired and it was bad that I couldn't sleep comfortably. Time flew by quickly and by the end of the flight we had 2 people on our left shouting at each other - quarreling and fighting. Intense stuff.

Second flight to Prague was more comfortable, flight wasn't full and I could sleep better. But strangely, the flight seemed longer than the first. After 17 gruelling hours of flying and transiting, we finally touched down to Praha!

Day 1 officially began.

I used bolt (your Uber/grab alternative in Europe) to get us to the apartment. If you go Europe, you should definitely use this. We settled in and headed out to our first meal.

marina ristorante

Recommended by our apartment owner, this restaurant has a great view of the Prague castle. It was really beautiful. But it was raining so we couldn't sit outside to admire the view. This restaurant was pricey, and food was good but not great. View is 💯.

After we left the restaurant, the temperature dropped drastically. My mum and I were literally shaking and shivering because of the cold! We weren't prepared at all, we were dressed with only one layer and a coat - oh my goodness. I never shivered until my hands were shaking so badly. I faster got us a cab home and we rested at 7pm because we were so jetlagged. My body was confused after having 2 breakfasts and a lunch and reaching here - it was still lunch time like whut. LOL, I was so tired at 7pm because it was SG time 2am.

We all slept like a pig for over 12 hours, and we were up early at 6am for a new day! We got ready and headed out, only to realize when we stepped out of the door that it was insanely cold. "6 degrees, feels like 2 degrees" - according to Google. Honestly, I'm not dressed for this weather?! Google you weird thing, you told me temperature was 10+ degrees a week ago isn't it 🌚

Day 2.

Andel station near our apartment - going to the old town square

This was a flea market I think? It had a lot of small shops selling handmade crafts!

we hid at macs because it was SO cold! This was a bagel with pork inside, so good 😋

my happy parents with the astronomical clock ❤️

us :)

At the old town square! One of the buildings there.

My dad and the roasted pork knuckle

Charles bridge!

Skyped Naomi at the Charles bridge, because she was here 2 years ago and I missed Prague a lot. Now, it's my turn to show her while she's in NZ. fun times :)

This was a handmade bread cone with yogurt/custard inside. T'was good but super huge we couldn't finish it

The view of Prague near the Prague castle ❤️

Inside Prague castle

Local food!! This was really good. We had beef goulash, potato soup in bread, pork knuckle and pilsner (their local beer)

With that, we went back to our apartment and prepared to make our way to Cesky Krumlov. My dad accidentally left his watch in the apartment and we had to call the apartment owner to come down. I felt bad, she was outside Prague but she rushed down just for us. We ended up missing our bus but thank God we managed to get another bus and my dad found his watch too. Phew!

The view of cesky en route to our apartment

IT'S SO LOVELY. SOOO GORGEOUS 😍

I love cesky. We had a really good dinner in a dungeon dinner place - satlava. Grilled trout, salmon steak, salad and an apple struddel with ice cream. One of the best meals so far for sure!

Now, it's 7.30am and we're preparing to head out. To explore the town of cesky and head off to our next destination - Salzburg.
